Paul Cézanne

Paul Cézanne was born on 19 January 1839 in Aix-en-Provence, in Provence in south of France. In the 1860s he studied art in Paris. Since about 1880 he made many works in Aix-en-Provence, in his twilight years he did nothing but work at home.

Many of his early works were painted in dark tones, suggesting the romantic expressionism. After he knew the impressionism, his style changed.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, Cezanne's works became more abstract and those works had a major impact on cubist artists.
