Robert Delaunay was born into a wealthy family in Paris. He received impulses from impressionism, Gauguin, neo-impressionism, fauvism. When he was young, he sought a new direction. Paul Cezanne was highly-influential. Robert Delaunay learned many things through the study of Paul Cezanne.
Robert Delaunay had a keen sense of color.
In the 1930's, he returned to representational painting. After that, he returned to abstract art again. In 1937, he participated in the design of the railway and air travel pavilions at World Fair in Paris.
