František Kupka

František Kupka was a Czech painter. In 1871, he was born in eastern Bohemia. He studied at Prague and Vienna. He established himself in a fin-de-secle atmosphere.

Originally, the art for him was a philosophical being. In his early works, he tried to pursue the presence of human life and mystery of the universe. He was not only in the world of idea, but also took careful note of the fact.

He worked as an illustrator of books and posters. He became known for satirical drawing. In 1906, he settled in Paris. At this time, he was interested in painting in oil. His works became more abstract. In 1912, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in the Cubist room.
