Giacomo Balla

Giacomo Balla was born in Turin. (Turin is a city in the Piemonte region of Italy.) His father was an industrial chemist. When Balla was a child, he studied music. After his father died, he chucked up music. In 1893, he moved to Rome, he earned his living as an artist. In Rome he met and married Elisa Marcucci. For a couple of years he worked in Rome. In 1899, his work was shown at the Venice Biennale.

Futurism


Futurism was an artistic movement in Italy. The Italian writer Filippo Tommaso Marinetti began this. Giacomo Balla was influenced by him.
